Rehema Children's Home

In Bukura, Kenya, is located an orphanage founded and built by
Ian and Lynne White of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.

"Rehema" in Swahili means mercy.  We are seeking to share the love and mercy of God with abandoned and orphaned children in Kenya through this "home" of love.

This is an early photo of construction of the second building.
In front is a row of cribs, built with volunteer labor using donated materials.

Can you help fill these cribs?

The History of Rehema Home for orphaned and abandoned babies

Before I share the history of Rehema Home I would like to tell you about Ian and Lynne White.  They are friends of Jerry's and mine and we have the utmost respect for them.  Ian and Lynne are selfless, and this can be seen in the way they forsook the comforts of this life and threw themselves wholeheartedly into caring for these very needy babies in Kenya.

How it began:

They approached Into All the World in 2005 to see where they could serve. They were set up with Bishop Joseph Mophat Kilioba and the Pentecostal Evangelical Fellowship of Africa to build the home in western Kenya.

Ian had felt called to do something to help the children of Africa during a short-term missions trip to Zambia in 2004. When Ian and Lynne returned from that trip they sold their house and used the equity to build and sell the first “fund raiser house”. In January of 2006 they went to western Kenya, started the first home and set the infrastructure in place.

As of April, 2009 Ian and Lynne have three duplexes built to house the babies, the staff and themselves. Some babies have been adopted, making room for more. The number of tiny residents now stands at about 30.

This photograph is of Lynne with the first two babies, Isaac and Nathan.  Go to this page to see more photos of the precious little ones they have rescued and begun caring for in the Rehema Home for Children.
